LG Electronics Selects RADVISION's SIP and MGCP Enabling Technology For Its Media Gateway AX-3000/4000
MAHWAH, N.J., and SEOUL, South Korea, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- RADVISION (Nasdaq: RVSN - news), the leading provider of award-winning, industry-standard products and technology for real-time voice and video over IP (V2oIP(TM)) and LG Electronics today announced that LGE Digital Network Lab will be integrating RADVISION's universal SIP and MGCP protocol toolkits into LG Electronics' AX-3000/4000 Media Gateway.
LG is embedding RADVISION's SIP and MGCP enabling technology in its AX-3000/4000 product, which is a carrier-class media gateway and media server. Media gateways provide connectivity between legacy telephone networks to packet-based or Internet Protocol (IP) networks. This allows service providers and enterprises deploying voice over IP (VoIP) seamless connectivity to legacy circuit-switched networks and expanded reach beyond their own networks to organizations not connected by IP.
According to the ITU, Asia-Pacific Telecommunication Indicators 2000, of the top four Internet economies (by number of users), three are in Asia -- Japan, China and Korea. Combined, these three countries have 59 million users compared to the 83.8 million users in the United States.
``RADVISION sees an acceleration of activity in Asia in the VoIP space both in product and application development and network deployment,'' said Gadi Tamari, CEO of RADVISION. ``We are working to take advantage of the growth of convergence networks in the region with our own infrastructure product offerings and by helping other vendors develop their products quickly and effectively with our enabling technologies.
``By relying on RADVISION's enabling technology, LG Electronics will be able to bring their product to market before the end of the year,'' added Tamari.
